Volunteer Communities & Social Initiatives
Danish People's Aid runs long-term initiatives to counteract the problem of poverty in Denmark and abroad. In addition, we provide direct support to vulnerable people in Denmark.
Danish People's Aid's direct support efforts spread out throughout the year. Common to them all is the ambition to reduce the number of difficult choices that vulnerable people in Denmark make every single day.
For poor families, it is not a matter of course that they can afford summer vacation, confirmation, school supplies for the first day of school and not least Christmas food and gifts for the children. In some families, the choice may be between medicine and three daily meals, and then experiences and activities become a sad but logical choice.
Volunteering is at the heart of our social initiatives. Danish People's Aid emphasizes strong communities characterized by intimacy and participation.
It is in this way that we can withstand the increasing pressure that the welfare society is under - both in the social and health areas. Our society's standard of living is no better than the lowest common denominator, which is why we need to develop a new mindset and strengthen civil society - and fight poverty together.
