The Disaster Fund

When disaster hits there is a need for urgent assistance.

Danish People’s Aid has created a Disaster Fund which can be activated with immediate effect. The purpose is to save lives and take survivors through a difficult situation in a dignified way.

Over time, the Disaster Fund has been activated for several natural disasters. An example is the fight against the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Afghanistan during the course of 2020. The Fund made it possible for Danish People’s Aid to assist internally displaced people in Afghanistan to maintain basic living standards, to receive information on COVID-19 and to promote proper hygiene practices in order to minimize the spread.

The Disaster Fund is established and replenished by Danish People’s Aid own funds.
