About Danish People's Aid

Danish People's Aid is a nationwide NGO working for and with people in socially and economically vulnerable life positions.
We work to reduce inequality and believe that lasting social change happens by ensuring empowerment and equal opportunities for all. We work nationally and internationally and help without regard to nationality, ethnicity or religion.

Danish People's Aid was established in 1907 and today has 28 local branches across Denmark with 2,000 active volunteers and members. Internationally, we work with capacity building and access to clean water with our partners in Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya and Zambia, we build schools in Afghanistan and work with reconstruction and rehabilitation in war-torn Ukraine.

Our three strategic focus areas are:

  • ‘First Aid & Volunter Paramedics’. Through first aid courses and training of volunteer paramedics, we provide life-saving skills to Danes and contribute to the safety and security of us all
  • ‘Volunteer Communities & Social Initiatives’. We work for and with children, young people and adults who live in socially, health and economically vulnerable life positions. Danish People's Aid supports with direct financial help and holistic volunteer efforts that create lasting social change
  • ‘Humanitarian Relief & Global Development’. We work internationally with emergency relief and rehabilitation in the world's hotspots and long-term and in close collaboration with our partners in the Global South, where we especially work with capacity building.
