Recycling is smart and environmentally friendly. It gets even smarter, when recycling is able to help vulnerable families and promote voluntary work.

In recent years, Danish People’s Aid has increased the number of second-hand shops around Denmark and more shops are added regularly.

The second-hand stores increase the social capital of the local branches. They create energy, enthusiasm and attract new volunteers to the local branches. The ownership is local and volunteers take great pride in their stores.

Profits from the stores are invested in local social work, such as leisure activities for vulnerable families or our Christmas Aid.
