Aid for Afghanistan
Years of armed conflict have made Afghanistan one of the world's most fragile countries. After decades of presence, Danish People's Aid has a strong connection to Afghanistan and relationships with thousands of communities across all 34 provinces.
Afghanistan's population is estimated to be 37 million, half of whom are estimated to be under the age of 15. Many of the children do not have the opportunity to be educated. Girls in particular find it difficult to go to school.
Through DAARTT, Danish People's Aid is building schools for tens of thousands of Afghan children, especially girls. In addition to building new quality schools and rehabilitating and modernizing dilapidated schools, we equip classrooms with aids, chairs and tables.
In this way, we help promote a good learning environment in Afghanistan.
The situation in Afghanistan is harsh and brutal. 13 million children are in need of humanitarian aid and hundreds of thousands are severely malnourished. On October 7, 2023, a devastating earthquake hit the country and suddenly the fragile country was set back even further.
Danish People's Aid has been engaged in Afghanistan since 1984. Through the organization DACAAR, we aim to save lives in the early stages of a crisis, targeting internally displaced people, returning refugees and communities affected by conflict and natural disasters.
Over the past years, DACAAR has strived to be among the first responders to people affected by shock throughout Afghanistan.
A stronger education system
DAARTT, Danish People's Aid's Afghan department, builds schools to promote access to education among children and young people in Afghanistan.
In the work of rehabilitating Afghanistan, the construction of a functional education system is crucial. Therefore, DAARTT works for children and young people's access to schooling in Afghanistan to create a better future for the next generation in the country.
Development projects in Afghanistan - DACAAR
The Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR) is a Danish relief and development organization that supports sustainable development in Afghanistan for people - in their own communities.
Danish People's Aid co-founded DACAAR in 1984 and has been a loyal supporter on the board ever since.
