For the vast majority of children, the very first day of school is associated with excitement and joy. For financially challenged families, the big day can cause worries because there is not enough money to buy school supplies.

At Danish People's Aid, we want to ensure with School Start Aid that more children from financially disadvantaged families have a safe start to school – just like all the other children. A start to school without worries and with a stronger starting point to be able to face the first day of school proudly and expectantly with the feeling of being part of the community. That feeling is crucial for children's well-being.

School start assistance consists of a gift certificate. With the gift certificate, the family can purchase school supplies such as a school bag, pencil case and other equipment.

It is possible to apply for School Start Assistance from April 1st to April 30th, via our application portal.
