On summer vacation with
Danish People's Aid

good summer holiday experiences

In financially strapped families, summer can often be a time without experiences with family and friends. Because there is no money.

With the Danish People's Aid Holiday Assistance, families with children get the opportunity to go on holiday. The holiday consists of a week in a family cabin at a holiday centre in Denmark. Each holiday camp has a team of four volunteers who ensure that the families have a good holiday week filled with security, presence and good experiences. In 2025, we held 64 holiday camps spread over 19 holiday resorts with almost 4,000 participating children and adults.

In 2026, we will once again open up the opportunity to come on summer vacation. And we hope that each stay will be a wonderful respite filled with sand between your toes, sun on your nose, and friendships across borders.

To receive Holiday Assistance, you must be a single parent on transfer income or a cohabiting/married couple, where both are on transfer income and with children under 18 living at home.

Apply for Holiday Help from April 1st to April 30th, via our application portal.

A WEEK IN DENMARK IN LØJT

""We felt like
everyone else""

Lone and her son Emmanuel were on a one-week vacation with Danish People's Aid in the summer of 2025.

“I don't have the opportunity to give my son a real vacation, so the alternative was to spend the summer at home. All the families at the stay struggle with some things in their everyday lives, and it was liberating not to feel different and outside.”

In 2025, more than 4,000 children and adults were on summer vacation with Danish People's Aid.
