emergency aid

Afghanistan's population is estimated to be 37 million, half of whom are estimated to be under the age of 15. Many of the children do not have the opportunity to be educated. Girls in particular have difficulty getting to school.

Danish People's Aid builds schools for tens of thousands of Afghan children, especially girls. In addition to building new quality schools and rehabilitating/modernizing dilapidated schools, we equip classrooms with aids, chairs and tables.

Danish People's Aid has been engaged in Afghanistan since 1984. Through the organization DACAAR, we will save lives in the early stages of a crisis targeting internally displaced people, returning refugees and communities affected by conflicts and natural disasters.

Girls in Afghanistan have
also the right to learn

Mamlakat, Khalida and Anezo have started first grade in a school built by Danish People's Aid. Going to school is so exciting that even though they are supposed to arrive at 8 am, they are ready in the classroom at 7 am.

“The best thing about going to school is learning the alphabet so you can learn to read. The second best thing is the teacher, because she is so nice,”
says 7-year-old Mamlakat.
